Common European River Cruise Myths

If you are planning a European river cruise and have shared this information with others such as family members, friends, neighbors, and even your peers at work, it is most likely that you have been informed of some of the myths surrounding cruises. However, it is likely that these myths were explained as "truths". It has been estimated that close to thirteen million individuals travel on cruises yearly, but several other million individuals will hesitate to board a cruise because of some of the "things" that people tell them.

Here, I will discuss some of the most commonly shared myths associated with the popular European cruises sailing along the rivers and offering services to guest travellers.

The initial and likely the most commonly identified myth is the occurence of seasickness. True, there are instances of this occurring to some. However, the barges, cruises, and boats sailing in the waterways of Europe are now structured to be exceptionally dependable design wise. As a result, this rarely occurs. Speaking of health conditions, another myth surrounds the "Norwalk Virus". Sometimes, individuals will hear about illness outbreaks on cruise ships. Each comes down with a stomach virus and it is assumed that the food is toxic or there is something onboard causing it. The truth is, when people come in mass, spread of viruses may be inevitable. If you take proper measures like washing your hands on a regular basis, and avoid sharing eating and drinking utensils, you will probably never fall ill on a European river cruise.

Many individuals have an immense concern that cruise ships are relatively unsafe means of transportation. They fear that they may drop, or these vessels may become a target of pirates or bad elements and other types of situations.

The truth is, statistics indicates that European river cruises appear as the safest tours in the world. If something does occur, these are not during sailing time and help may be sought immediately. In terms of crime situation, the figure is very negligible. Besides, all ships have law enforcement personnel and a high level of security.
