The Kenyan Coast has arguably some of the best safari and holiday destinations along the entire stretch of the East African Coast.Boasting of some of the finest beaches in the world, Lamu, Malindi and Mombasa are no doubt very popular among international tourists.

There is more to Mombasa than just beach luxury. The town is equally ideal for water sports, sport-fishing, and as a starting point for your Kenya safari. Mombasa, Kenya's second largest city, is situated on the Indian ocean coast, about 480km from Nairobi, the capital.

The coastal city of Mombasa has more to offer than pristine sandy beaches. This includes sport fishing, snorkellling , day-time dhow cruises and romantically themed sailing dinners with live music. In addition, many historical and cultural remnants dating several centuries back are found in this city. Malindi, situated 150km from the city of Mombasa, is also worth visiting as it boasts many attractions and a rich cultural heritage. Among the most popular attractions here include the Arabuko Sokoke Forest, Hells Kitchen, and Malindi Marine National Park & Indian Ocean. Located about 36 Kilometers north West of Malindi, Hells Kitchen is a spectacular canyon that resulted from iron mining and erosion, while Malindi Marine Park is an ideal destination for snorkeling and scuba diving with dolphins and whale sharks.

Malindi boasts several historical attractions that include Gede Ruins, Vasco Da Gama's Pillar, Watamu Village and the Portuguese Chapel. The town can be reached by road from Mombasa or by air by way of domestic flights to Malindi Airport.

For the person interested in learning about the culture and History of the Swahili people, Lamu is no doubt the place to visit. 10 Reasons To Have Your Birthday Party On A Boat Cruise

By Adriana Noton

Time cannot go fast enough when we are young. We calculate how old we are as precisely as possible and walk around saying things like "I'm eight and a half!" Past a certain age however we wish that time would be kind enough to slow down and our birthdays seem to come faster and faster. Along with the holidays, the day of our birth is just another day to notice that a year has flown by.

If we do anything for our birthdays, it is just an impromptu get together with friends for dinner, or a party at the house. It is an excuse to have everyone come together. Presents cease being so important, it is really about taking a day to do something fun with the people in your life that you love.

Group vacations are usually done under some kind of pretense. Destination weddings or bachelorette spa weekends make people feel better about taking time off with the people they most enjoy. Why not extend that to your birthday? Make it an occasion to try something new and to have fun. There are 10 reasons to have your birthday party on a boat cruise.

The first reason is price. In this economy, spending just a little to have an all inclusive experience is the ultimate luxury. Minus alcohol and some extras, all your entertainment needs are covered. You don't have to spend time overly planning your itinerary.

The second reason is the food! Eating out at an expensive restaurant can feel like the most decadent luxury. On a boat cruise, rather than having that be the one time treat that you do on your birthday night, you and your friends can eat like kings every day.

Reason 3 is, boat cruises are all about your choice. You can travel to more than one destination on a boat cruise depending on where it will be at port so that you can explore many different environments. It is up to you!

The forth reason is all about the activities you can do. Going on a boat cruise means not having to do everything together. You and your friends can separate during the day and run off to all corners of the ship to try your hand at the dozens of activities available to you.

Reason 5 is the option of relaxation. Some of you may be go-go-go people who love a challenge and want to indulge in as many activities as possible. Some of you may want to spend your days relaxing under the sun or getting a facial and massage.

Reason 6 is that you only have to pack one bag. Traveling to so many different places and being able to do so many things feels like you would have to pack an army of luggage, but that is simply not the case.

Reason 7 is the fun and adventure of going on a boat cruise. Your birthday can be the reason that you and your friends try something new.

If things go well, the eighth reason can be the possibility of finding love. When people are not on guard and are truly enjoying themselves, good things can happen.

Reason 9 is that you don't have to travel far. Cruise packages take the hassle of too much transportation out of the equation. If you life far from a port of departure, many cruise packages now include airfare.

The tenth reason is that the experience is something that should not be missed. Our biggest birthdays and in fact, any birthdays, only come one a year. Finding a reason to turn it into a celebration with your friends and family in a place where they can tailor their experience to make it the best vacation they've had in years makes going on a boat cruise a no brainer. - 31515

Pet Friendly Birmingham Accommodation

By Andrew Kelly

The city of Birmingham is the second largest (by population) in England, second only to the capital, London. Being such a large conurbation there plenty of world class tourist attractions, top notch venues for music and the arts, countless renowned museums and art galleries and some of the most modern entertainment in the British Isles. It is little wonder that Birmingham is quickly becoming an immensely popular destination for short city breaks and even long vacations.

It may surprise you to learn, or you may not have even considered the fact, that increasing numbers of people now take their pets along with them when they take a vacation. It can be very stressful for both the pet and your family to be parted for even a brief time but this is not the only reason for the increase. As with everything else these days, boarding for your pet, while away, has become incredibly expensive. The expense is often so great that you can make a substantial saving even if your chosen hotel charges you for the privilege of having your pet in your room.

You may not have previously considered either a vacation in Birmingham or taking your pet with you. Sadly, if you do decide to take your pet, then you will immediately notice that hardly any accommodation allows pets. It is a sad fact that often fewer than one in a hundred guest houses, hotels and other accommodation allow pets.

Searching through endless lists of hotels is a thankless task if you are looking for a place that allows pets. Imagine just how upsetting it can be to wade through 50+ hotels to find only one suitable and then a further thirty or more before you find another. To save you from this nightmare I have listed below a selection of pet friendly hotel accommodation in Birmingham (those that allow pets).

The Etap Hotel The immensely large Etap is situated roughly half a mile from the very centre of the city. The Etap offers pet friendly accommodation at a very affordable cost.

The Crowne Plaza Hotel The absolutely enormous Crowne Plaza is a 4 star pet friendly hotel located on Holliday Street right in the very centre of the city.

The Radisson Sas The Radisson Sas is an enormous 3 star Birmingham city centre hotel which is situated about five hundred metres from the New Street Rail Station.

One of the problems with the hotels mentioned above is that they all have over 150 rooms and many folk prefer to stay in smaller more intimate hotels. As pet friendly hotels in Birmingham are pretty few and far between it will not surprise you to learn that if you are in search of a city centre hotel that has a much lesser number of rooms there is only the 51 room Ibis Holloway Circus which states that pets are allowed. - 31515

Take A Winter Escape

By Thomas Clarke

During arctic wintry months, anybody could conceive of packing a speedy traveling bag and stimulating a wild bolt to any hot and sunshiny place. Crisp, soaked, breezy wintertime months can turn irksome and could get an individual down as well as make them blue. When you are blue and down, it is difficult to focus as well as difficult to complete your work tasks properly (if at all).

So what is the cure for the winter time blues? It must be a nice quick getaway to some warm and sunny place. It could be the beach or an island or really anywhere warm and sunny. It should preferably be somewhere with lots of sunshine and lots of water to cool off. Pack your sun block and your vintage Wayfarer sunglasses and get ready to relax and have some fun in the sun. Just remember to take it easy on your getaway; you don't want to come home more exhausted than when you left.

One thing that you should try to do is when you are planning your return trip give yourself a day to get back into the swing of things before heading back to school or work. If you try to return to your normal life routine the day after you return you may find yourself right back in your winter slump, and possibly even worse than you were before you left.

So when the winter weather is getting you down the first thing you need to do is jump onto the computer and start looking into destinations and travel arrangements. A great site to do this at is Expedia.com. Expedia makes it simple for you to book your entire vacation, on one site, while saying yourself some money. When making arrangements on the internet you also will save the time of making hundreds of calls checking airlines and hotel availability and prices. You can make all your plans without even having to change out of your pajamas!

The Keys in Florida is one of the many wonderful destinations that will assist you in overcoming your winter blues. Another great destination is Acapulco, Mexico. Where ever you decide to go you want to make sure to remember to pack your sunblock, your skin probably has not seen the sun in a while, therefore you can burn up fairly quickly. - 31515

Farewell, Holiday Inn

By Nelson Pellew

Where once the Holiday Inn Express in Mill Valley stood, something else has taken its place. Gone is the cheap green sign and moderate to average decor and signage. Gone is the flavorless, ubiquitous chain. No, something truly modern and wonderful has taken its place -- to quote Isaac C. Clarke's 2001 -- "something wonderful."

Although I am not a Bay Area native in the strictest sense, I was once a resident. Therefore, on occasion, I will make my way back to the greatest bay in the world to replenish my soul and enjoy one of the best cappuccinos this side of Rome. Though I have lived in New York -- and London, previous to that -- I have yet to pine for a former place of residence as much as I pine for my over-priced one bedroom in the City.

Every year, when I come back, I avoid the rush and the push of San Francisco and book my stay in Marin County. Marin, I hazard, may be the best known county in the United States, and indeed, it is far more recognized than the individual towns and villages that comprise it. Most people will stare blankly if asked about Mill Valley, Tamalpais, or Larkspur. They may squint in near recognition if you mention San Quentin or Sausalito.

The hotel I prefer, when I have the forethought to book it, is the Larkspur Hotel in Mill valley. Far from being a shameless plug -- though perhaps you may see it as such -- I find the Larkspur to have that certain Zen-garden edge to its decor that appeals to me. I also appreciate their Feather-fabulous or some-such beds. They render my sciatica powerless and allow me to full appreciate the marvels of modern sleep technology and my morning cappuccino in peace.

Should I fail to plan, I plan on staying at either the Acqua Hotel (decent, if not a tad on the pricey side) or the Fountain Motel (worst case scenario). It is essential you make arrangements for your own transportation. Though the reach of the local metro, known as BART, is extensive, it tends to cater more to the East Bay. Indeed, there is no metro service to any destination in Marin County. Be prepared. - 31515

Chilling Out on Vacation Under the Jamaican Sun

By Rafael Wallace

Everyone has his or her own idea of what it is like in Jamaica. For others, a relaxing afternoon under the Jamaican is the only best way to spend their vacation, some would prefer sipping frappes while listening to island reggae music. Whether you are for this stereotypical idea of Jamaican vacation or not, Jamaica definitely has more in store for you.

It is not to say that these kind of laid-back relaxation can no longer be found in Jamaica. The stories of laid back days doing nothing are true. But you need to know where to go in Jamaica to find the experience. If casual respite is all you really want, head on over to Negril which is accessible from Monetgo Bay.

For many years, Negril has been popular for individuals who just want to kick their shoes off and forget everything. In Negril, you can get your fill and more of its seven mile white sand beach stretch that is so perfect you will never forget it. Aside from dozing off on the sand, you might also want to try swimming, sailing, diving, windsurfing, water skiing and deep sea fishing while in Negril.

Beach bums need to look no farther than Negril. If you want a spot that is more accessible from the capital though, you might want to visit Port Antonio. Although there is bound to be some sand and water here too, the place is known for other kinds of laid back diversions. Instead of the beach, you can fill your vacation days in Jamaica with white water rafting in the Rio Grande and swimming in the Blue Lagoon.

Port Antonio and Negril are the two places you need to visit. That is if your major intention is to bum around. If you are looking more for the thrill of city entertainment, the undisputed hot spots are Kingston and Montego Bay. These two are the largest cities in the country and offer the best experiences when it comes to present day attractions. These are the spots to wear down your shoe soles on hard core shopping, dining and clubbing.

Do note though that there are other busy cities like Kingston and Montego Bay that can offer you authentic Jamaican urban pulse. Kingston in particular is the heart of Jamaica and can be an unnerving spot to immerse yourself in if you are less inclined to city noise and movement.

Montego Bay and Kingston are also the two major places to experience Jamaican culture. For genuine cultural education you can check the Bob Marley Museum and the National Gallery of Art in Kingston. In Montego Bay, you can drop by Rose Hall or other similar locations for a look at colonial structures and old plantation life.

A Jamaica vacation can truly give you the kind of warm chill you have been looking for. At the same time though, you can also experience fast paced fun and thrilling adventures. - 31515

Owning a Fifth Wheel is Better than Being a Third Wheel

By Jim Tolar

No one wants to be a third wheel. Third wheels have a bad reputation for ruining a good time. However, fifth wheels offer a good time for everyone with plenty of space for three, four or even eight people. One of the benefits of fifth wheels is they hitch to your truck, can be left behind when you don't need them and taken with you for extra space.

The maximum number of slide-outs, five, can add an extra fifteen feet of space when parked. The ceilings on fifth wheels are known to be built higher than other models, for a spacious feel. There are a variety of amenities that come with the top-of-the line models, including custom cabinetry and detailing from bathroom sinks to shower tiles.

Fifth wheels are homes on wheels, measuring 21-40 feet long. Bring the pets, the kids, toys for all and home cooked food. Every type of travel suits a fifth wheel lifestyle from family outings, exploring America, Canada and Mexico, or piling in for the kid's baseball game. With sleeping quarters for eight, everyone has their own space and can get a good night's sleep.

The price tag may not seem cheap, but with quality comes cost. $20,000 hits the low end for fifth wheels while a million can easily be reached depending on the amount of custom work that's done to the RV. However, the unique features of the fifth wheel, like the convenient bedroom or living room that stretches over the truck bed, offer additional space or private retreats.

Next time you're on the road and want to run to the grocery store, or want to take a backcountry road to the middle of nowhere, simply detach the fifth wheel and leave it at the campground. The versatility of fifth wheels is one of the reasons for their popularity.

After a rough day playing, relax in a custom shower, or pull back the sheets to your queen sized bed. Let the kids watch a movie on the state-of-the-art entertainment system while dinner cooks or you take a romantic walk with your significant other. Dreams are made in fifth wheels.

Traditional fifth wheels needed a sturdy rig for carting them around, but newer lightweight models can be hitched to a half ton truck. Luxury isn't lost in the new models; they are just a little more aerodynamic.

A fifth wheel isn't for everyone, but it is for the exclusive, for those who like to live life at a certain level. Family and friends can pile in, or this resort can be a private nest for couples, turning a bedroom into an office. Time fades away in a fifth wheel as you travel at any speed you like, lingering in magical locations or speeding away from bad weather. - 31515

Antarctica - Important on the Map

By Andrew Bryant

Antarctica is such a vast continent, that it amounts to approximately 10% of the world's total land mass, and is far larger than either or Europe. Antarctica is both vast and forbidding with temperatures as low as minus 89 degrees and wind speeds up to 192 mph. The continent is fully surrounded by water, specifically the Southern Ocean.

The waters off Antarctica are nutrient rich and provide sustenance for innumerable penguins, whales, seals, dolphins, fish and various species of flying birds. Schools of micro forage, more commonly known as krill, grow in vast quantities beneath the massive ice shelves of the Antarctic. Krill is the main food source for whales, seals, penguins, and is also eaten by humans in Japan.

Because of the extreme cold, windy, and dry conditions, animals living in Antarctica must have special adaptations for the environment. Antarctica has the highest average elevation of all the continents, and it has an average precipitation of just 200mm a year on the coastline and much less further inland. The creatures that can survive here include mostly seals and penguins, while plant-life consists of tundra and algae.

Antarctica is vital to our existence because of a very unique natural phenomenon. The greenhouse effect is more prominent at the poles where the particles making up the atmosphere are the most intense. The sun's luminous energy is soaked up at the Earth's poles near the exterior, making things a little warmer.

The surrounding atmosphere is comprised of almost eighty percent nitrogen. Methane and carbon dioxide also contribute to the make-up of the atmosphere, but in minute quantities. These gasses trap the heat from the sun's rays and make the ground warmer. This process is called the greenhouse effect.

Because of the so-called "slingshot effect" at the equator, the regions around the poles build up methane and carbon dioxide faster than more temperate regions of the earth. Because the temperature increase from Greenhouse effects is 4-5 times greater in Antarctica, this region makes an ideal location for research, especially into the Greenhouse Effect.

The surface of Antarctica is layered with ice - approximately three miles deep. It was created by the compaction of snow over millions of years. Scientists study core samples by analyzing ancient air bubbles and atomic isotopes to better understand conditions in prehistoric eras.

The well-known ozone layer breach is said to be the result of harmful CFC's ... an atmospheric imbalance caused by these toxic pollutants. They create detrimental consequences when reaching our ozone. As a result of the elevated heating occurrence, massive chunks of ice layers have been ripped away.

Once the ice pieces sever they float north and thaws. The resulting additional water greatly brings up the altitude of sea level. In addition, valuable amounts of the nutritious krill are destroyed.

If all of the ice in Antarctica were to thaw, this would bring up sea level about sixty yards. That is the equivalent of skyscrapers in New York being surrounded by water at the 20th floor as it is in Venice. Whole countries close enough to sea level may vanish, places like the archipelagos of the South Pacific and Bangladesh.

Many who have traveled to Antarctica are of one accord in that the region is a vast area full of captivating and stunning splendor. The animals don't always view people as a threat. With the astounding beauty of the nature and it's innocent wildlife, it is a stimulating sight.

Hope remains that current and future civilizations will value Antarctica enough to protect and conserve its perfect brilliance. However, the destruction of this continent has been ongoing for a very long time, and irrevocable damage is being done to it. Fortunately, many nations have joined forces and are now working together so some small steps toward conservation, preservation and preserving sustainability have already been taken. - 31515

Luggage - Don't Lose It On Vacation And Holiday Air Flights

By Dorothy Yamich

Whether you have taken air flights for business, or vacations and holidays, you may have lost luggage or know someone that has. Here are a few travel tips that can help you reduce this risk.

It's estimated that there are more than a million bags that are lost by the airlines each year in the U.S. alone. How many get lost in the whole world is anyone's guess. Here are a few tips that may help you recover your bags if they should they get lost.

Attach a couple of tags with your name, home address, and phone number to the handle and zipper-pulls of every bag that you are checking. There's less of a chance that every tag could get torn off when in transit. Make sure that you've taken off any old airline tags that are still on your luggage as they could confuse the baggage handlers.

Also, be sure to place the same contact information, including a copy of your itinerary and destination address inside all of your bags. That way, if they do go astray and are found in time, it is possible that they could be forwarded to your hotel.

Pick luggage with preferably a bright or odd color that will stand out among all black and brown bags. Know which brand name of the luggage that you are using and attach a small colorful scarf or ribbon to the handle to make identification easier. Stick decals or a contrasting colored tape to each side of the bags so they are easier to find as it goes around the carousel. Remember these details, or better still, take a digital photo of your luggage just before you go and bring it with you. This will help the lost luggage staff at the airport locate your bags if they get lost in transit and turn up at their office. It will also help if you do have to make a claim.

It helps to make a list of what you have in your luggage and carry that list in you carry-on bag. The chance of your luggage getting lost in transit increases dramatically when you have connecting, or delayed flights. Always pack all of your valuables, including your laptop or Blackberry, travel documents, prescriptions, etc., in your carry-on bag. It makes sense to pack only the things you can afford to lose in your checked baggage. Most analysts believe that the airline industry's problem of lost luggage is not going to be resolved anytime soon.

What should you do your luggage gets lost?

Go immediately to the baggage claim office and file your claim. Many airlines have a twenty-four hour window of time starting from when your flight arrives to file a claim and be eligible for compensation. Get a claim receipt and check the tracking of your luggage with the airline by phone, or on the airline's website. Make sure you keep all your flight documents until the lost luggage problem has been resolved.

How can you guarantee that your luggage will not be lost by the airlines?

There are some companies like FedEx, UPS or DHL, that can send your luggage in the U.S. directly to your hotel or street address for a very reasonable cost. If you're staying at a hotel, your luggage will be taken to your room by a bellboy. When you consider that in the United States alone, over a million bags are lost by the airlines each year, this service is well worth considering. If you are planning to travel by air throughout Europe, FirstLuggage.com, provides a similar service. - 31515

RV Dealers: Finding Your Best Match

By Jim Tolar

Millions of people own RVs. If you're thinking about joining the ranks of people who can get away whenever they like, then you're going to need a good RV dealer. It's important to trust and feel comfortable with whoever you're going to be making such a large investment with. RVing is about exploration and memories and finding the right RV dealer will help you decide which model is best for your lifestyle.

Longevity is something to be considered. Finding an RV dealer that has managed to survive recessions generally means they are forward thinkers who put their customers at the top of their priority list. This is what you want. You want and RV dealer who will still be in business ten years from now when you're looking for an upgrade.

How does the RV dealer answer your questions? Will they take the time to talk to you? Will they give you comparisons between different price ranges and different models? If someone is rude to you, then you don't have to buy from them. They should want your business. If they appear to busy to help you then find someone who will.

While you may be tempted to choose a local RV dealer, remember you have nationwide options thanks to the internet. There are programs where your airline ticket is mailed to you, compliments of the RV dealer if you decide to buy with them. What other incentives do RV dealers offer? Take the time to do a little research before you jump in.

Especially if you've never owned an RV, you may want to look at all the options available to you. Finding an RV dealer with plenty of inventory will help you make a decision you can be comfortable with. Make sure you buy what you want, what will work best for your needs.

Be sure people are available to answer your questions. Automated machines, or on-line forms can be a hassle and you never know when someone is going to get back to you. Also, having someone who can talk you through financing and warranties is essential. Remember, you don't have to sign anything you don't feel comfortable with. This applies up until you drive off the lot in your new RV.

How happy are the people that work there? Do they seem like they're only helping you because they want a commission, or do they really love what they do? RV dealers that take care of their staff will also take care of you.

Remember, you don't need to be intimidated walking into an RV dealership. You are in control of where you spend your money, so make sure the dealership is the right fit for you and you'll end up with the perfect RV. - 31515

Gay Vacations: To France With Love

By Howie Holben

Traveling through France on a jaunt across Europe, or as your only destination for gay vacations for singles or couples, France is a trip that everyone should experience at least once. With snowcapped alps, the magnificent French Riviera, world famous art collections, pristine beaches, pastoral landscapes dotted with medieval castles, villages and ruins that tell the story of Frances diverse history, and the truly exquisite cosmopolitan city of Paris, travelers are sure to find exactly what they are looking for when visiting this unique country.

While visitors on gay vacations tend to stay around Paris to enjoy the accepting atmosphere that Paris is known for, while experiencing the heart of Frances LGBT culture and visiting the citys famous cultural and historical landmarks, travelers will find that Paris accepting atmosphere extends across the country and there are plenty of LGBT establishments and things to see and do no matter where you travel in France. For over 200 years, Frances community has enjoyed life without anti-sodomy laws, and civil unions have been commonplace for the last decade. With both the law and the laissez-faire attitude common among the French on their side, LGBT travelers will find France an enjoyable place and offers many wonderful gay tours.

Visitors will find a number of community festivals and events taking place throughout the year in different parts of the country, including pride celebrations in many cities, a gay and lesbian film festival in Paris and Paris world-famous pride festival and parade. A gay vacation in Paris should also include a stop at the Legay Choc bakery in the Marais district, as well as the collection of male images at ArtMenParis and the female impersonation cabaret shows at LArtishow, Madame Arthur and Chez Michou. Paris nightlife often starts early with bars opening in the afternoon, followed by clubs opening around midnight and thumping the night away, often until noon.

For men in search of the bawdier side of gay vacations in Paris, sex clubs, bars with backrooms and popular cruising spots are readily available. There are also plenty of saunas (bathhouses) to choose from; however, French saunas operate differently than what some travelers might be accustomed to in Canada or America. In France, saunas have relaxation cubicles rather than private rooms for rent and visiting saunas is largely an afternoon activity, with Sunday afternoons being the most popular time.

While most gay vacation tour destinations cater largely to men, women will find that Paris has a lively lesbian scene that includes everything from a lesbian walking group to a sex shop just for the girls. The Marais district is the center of LGBT life in Paris, and women will find a distinct Sapphic presence there, with bars and clubs that are located mostly at the south end. Ladies will also find several venues sprinkled throughout other neighborhoods, such as the Halles-Beaubourg, Palais Royal, Grands Boulevards and Saint Germain des Pres districts. There is also a bookshop in the Bastille-Republique district and one of the oldest lesbian bars in the city is located in the Palais Royal area.

Although Paris might be the most visited gay vacation destination in France, many other options are available throughout the country, including Avignon in Provence, Montpellier and Nice on the Mediterranian coast, Annecy in the Alps, Nantes in Brittany and the nude community beaches of Camargue. For those who hope to rub elbows with the rich and famous, Saint Tropez on the French Riviera should not be missed, while those looking for a romantic retreat might opt for an LGBT-owned B ... B outside of Bourdeaux. With so many gay vacations in 2010 to choose from, France is truly an ideal setting for gay romance travel. - 31515

Sumidero Canyon

By Selma Louise

When thinking about canyons, you'll be surprised by Sumidero Canyon which is different from the Grand Arizona. What makes Sumidero Canyon different is, while the latter is in a desert, Sumidero Canyon is an explosion of greenery, water, and wildlife.

Canyon de Sumidero is in Chiapas State, Southeast Mexico. It begins near Chiapa de Corzo, stretches for 35km. Sumidero Canyon finally ends at the reservoir of the Chicoasn hydroelectric dam.

Canyon de Sumidero can be visited by boat or driving along the miradores at the top of the cliffs surrounding Canyon de Sumidero. We opted to join a boat trip at the Cahuar embarcadero. We were quite fortunate that a number of people turned up shortly after us, so we didn't need to wait for long. After putting on our life vests we were ready to go to Canyon de Sumidero!

The boatman took us to some of the interesting spots along Canyon de Sumidero. The first one was the Cueva de Colores (Colours Cave), a small cave which has some interesting pinkish colours on the ceiling and a small statue of Virgin of Guadalupe. Later, toward the middle of the boat trip to Canyon de Sumidero, we arrived at the highest point of Canyon de Sumidero, a cliff that reaches nearly 1000m, where the mountains from both sides of the river create an impressive gate full of life surrounded by nature.

My favourite spot in Canyon de Sumidero was a curious formation called the Christmas Tree. During the rainy season it becomes a waterfall, but during the winter, when the rain is not so abundant in Canyon de Sumidero, an interesting formation is created covered with moss that resembles a Christmas Tree. It was quite a coincidence to be in Canyon de Sumidero during Christmas season to contemplate this interesting sight.

After an hour on the boat trip, we arrived at the end of the Sumidero Canyon, where the river meets the Chicoasn dam. On the way back from Sumidero Canyon we tried to spot spider monkeys, birds and crocodiles. We were fortunate to see all of them in Sumidero Canyon. - 31515

Taking The Sunshine Coast Scenic Route

By Zane Archer

This drive leads through the Blackall Range, the tranquil, emerald-green hills that frame the beaches and resort towns of the Sunshine Coast.En route are quaint hillside villages well serviced with cafes, stores and galleries and to the south a scenic road swoops through the sculptural shapes of the Glass House Mountains. The journey can be completed in a day, but there are plenty of B & Bs and guesthouses for over night stays.

Start at Noosa Heads which is the epicenter of the Sunshine Coast and a fashionable resort town set on lovely Laguna Bay at the mouth of the Noosa Village. Here there are dramatic cliff top vantage points to view the terrific sandy beaches. From here head to Eumundi, a 19th century timber town which marks the ascent into the hills. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings the town hosts a wonderful market boasting local produce, arts and crafts .Next on the trip is Yandina , the home of the Ginger Factory- both a factory and a Theme Park. Ginger is a major local crop and the factory has combined its operations with a range of experiences for visitors to see how ginger is processed. You can watch cooking demonstrations and purchase jam and other treats plus ride the historic Queensland Cane Train and wander in the beautiful sub-tropical gardens.

On the way to Mapleton, stop at the Dulong Lookout situated at the top of the escarpment. The views are exhilarating " rolling green hills to the east and dense forest to the north. Take the time to explore tiny Mapleton Falls National Park which preserves remnant rainforest and a 120 metre waterfall. The road from Mapleton to Flaxton traces the ridge of the Blackall Ranges offering magnificent views east and west .Just south of Flaxton is the turn-off to Kondalilla National Park, a small park where over 100 bird species have been recorded. This is also where you will find Kondalilla Falls, an impressive 90metre cascade with a rockpool suitable for swimming perched on top!

Gerrard Lookout is located between Montville and Maleny at an astonishing 375 meters above sea level. The views here span from Caloundra to Noosa and just a bit further are views of Lake Baroon and the Kenilworth forest views. Mountain view road offers views of the Glass House Mountains which are all identified with proper signage.

The old Gympie Road is the one that cuts directly through the Glass House Mountains. The 16 volcanic plugs and plains of the Glass house Mountains are as high as 556 meters. Rock climbing is a necessity for exploring this area. - 31515

Affordable Disney Vacations - Five Tips for Saving Money on Food at Disney World

By Nancy Bobby

I have to say that visiting Disney World is, for us, a great excuse to eat! There are so many great choice, and most of the sit-down restaurants are good quality. In addition, it is so much fun to try new things, so we truly enjoy the eating experience at Disney World. But to do this, it can be expensive, so we have found a few ways that work for us to help save money while still enjoying the food options at Walt Disney World. In this article, we will look at five simple strategies that can really help you have an affordable Disney vacation.

1. Think about having some meals in your room. This is very easy to do if you are staying in a vacation home, villa, condo, or hotel suite, as you will have use of a kitchen. But even in a standard hotel room you can request a mini-frig if there is not already one, where you can store milk, juice, and sandwich items.

2. If you bring your own water, juice, snacks etc, you can save quite a bit of money since you won't have to pay park prices.

3. It can be a great idea to share meals, since Disney portions are typically pretty large. Whether you want to have 2 kids share, or an adult and child, this can be a great strategy for saving money...and not wasting food...and still have everyone eat more than enough food.

4. You can eat off-site and save money as well. If you are staying off-Disney property, ask at your hotel for local restaurant discount coupons or promotions. Or try looking for online coupons/promotions through local Florida/Orlando websites. You may even find it to be cost-effective to buy a local Entertainment Book for restaurant coupons.

5. Last but definitely not least, I have to say that we love using the Disney Dining Plan. This is basically a pre-paid "meal plan" that allows you to choose from one of several levels of options, each providing snacks, counter meals, and in some cases table service meals: you choose the option that is right for your budget. The key is, it is only available IF you are staying on Disney property. Now our family enjoys having a table service meal each night, so we always choose the Plus Disney Dining Plan, which gives us one snack credit, one counter meal (entree, drink, and dessert), and one table meal (again entree, drink, and dessert) per person, per day. We use the snacks mostly for breakfast and the others for lunch and dinner, and have found that it is usually more food per person than we can eat! We usually end up getting dessert "to go" since we are full from the meal. This plan saves us quite a bit of money, as the cost per day for our family of 3 is less than we would have paid just for dinner.

Of course, with all that food we are eating, we are fortunately doing a LOT of walking at all the parks to exercise it off! Saving money on food has been a great way to help us plan a magical, affordable Disney vacation each year! - 31515

Flights to Belfast

By Craig Wilson

With two airports serving Belfast Airport it is even easier to get a great price on lots of flights. You can get Belfast Flights to and from Belfast International Airport and George Best Belfast City Airport. Belfast International airport is about 20 minutes from the city and Belfast City airport is even nearer. Both airports offer convenient public transport options to the city centre.

Belfast flights between the UK generally fly into Belfast City Airport whilst most of the European ones use Belfast International Airport. There are however some domestic flights between the UK and Belfast.

Travelling on a New York flight to Belfast or Mexico, Canada or even Florida all depart from Belfast International with airlines such as FlyGlobespan, Zoom and American airline Continental Airlines

Thanks to the arrival of the low cost carriers the flight destinations from Belfast have grown dramatically over the last few years. You can now get a Belfast flight from Blackpool or a Belfast Malaga flight at a better price as well.

If you are travelling on a flight to Belfast it would be a good idea to check and see if the flight route you require is served by both Belfast Airports. A good example of this would be a Belfast flight from Blackpool, which is served by two airlines and one has flights into Belfast City and the other goes into Belfast International. London Flights to Belfast offer even more options and combinations as you can fly from both Belfast Airports and get a flight to more than one London Airport.

Another advantage of having two airports is that airlines often compete on routes and use different airports. A good example of this is a flight from Birmingham to Belfast City with Flybe. There is nothing stopping you travelling to or from Belfast City and returning into Belfast International. Bmibaby also have flights from Birmingham but this time into Belfast Internaional.

Another great thing about the arrival of the cheaper airlines you can now go on a short break from Belfast to a great destination in Europe. No longer do you have to waste time travelling via Manchester or London and wait for a connecting flight. You can now get a direct flight giving you more time enjoying a new city. - 31515

The Allure of Mill Valley

By Nelson Pellew

On the face of it, Marin County does seem to deserve its reputation for being rather aloof. Situated to the north of the cosmopolitan epicenter of the Bay Area, San Francisco, the county of Marin is home to a number of moderately sized and quaint towns. Though none of these towns can compare with their larger Bay Area rivals in terms of panache, they far exceed their rivals when it comes to access to scenic beauty and any number of outdoor activities.

Though Sausalito and San Rafael, the county seat, have garnered the majority of the public's attention, it seems one of the most overlooked portions of Marin County is humble, ever-serving Mill Valley. The occasional home to reclusive actors and musicians alike, this was -- and still is to some extent -- the haven for the extremely wealthy. This explains the relative dearth of Mill Valley hotels in the region.

The Mill Valley region has always boasted a robust outdoor menu of activity. This extends from hiking and sailing to hunting and fishing. At one point in its history, the Valley was home to a sanitarium, which took full advantage of its solitude and serenity. Now, you may need a stint in a sanitarium should you think real estate and housing are on par with the national average. A three bedroom rental in Mill Valley will cost you anywhere from $3,500 to $9,000 a month.

Once the home the Coast Miwok Native Americans for 12,000 years, Mill Valley is now home to an ethnically diverse, and politically left of center population. Have been host to a number of counter-culture celebrities, such as Jerry Garcia and jack Kerouac, Mill Valley has enjoyed a rather dubious distinction of being lampooned by former President George W. Bush, when he characterize the area as being populated by "misguided Marin County hot-tubbers."

Most mere mortals will only experience Mill Valley as a tourist destination, being able to afford perhaps a few days in a hotel or inn. The majority of residents, as is the case with the majority of coastal California, are two or more generations removed from families that settled the Golden State when real estate was somewhat attainable. How does your average twenty or thirty-something managed to afford living in the region? Their parents had the foresight to buy a home when the buying was cheap, so to speak. - 31515
