RV Dealers: Finding Your Best Match

By Jim Tolar

Millions of people own RVs. If you're thinking about joining the ranks of people who can get away whenever they like, then you're going to need a good RV dealer. It's important to trust and feel comfortable with whoever you're going to be making such a large investment with. RVing is about exploration and memories and finding the right RV dealer will help you decide which model is best for your lifestyle.

Longevity is something to be considered. Finding an RV dealer that has managed to survive recessions generally means they are forward thinkers who put their customers at the top of their priority list. This is what you want. You want and RV dealer who will still be in business ten years from now when you're looking for an upgrade.

How does the RV dealer answer your questions? Will they take the time to talk to you? Will they give you comparisons between different price ranges and different models? If someone is rude to you, then you don't have to buy from them. They should want your business. If they appear to busy to help you then find someone who will.

While you may be tempted to choose a local RV dealer, remember you have nationwide options thanks to the internet. There are programs where your airline ticket is mailed to you, compliments of the RV dealer if you decide to buy with them. What other incentives do RV dealers offer? Take the time to do a little research before you jump in.

Especially if you've never owned an RV, you may want to look at all the options available to you. Finding an RV dealer with plenty of inventory will help you make a decision you can be comfortable with. Make sure you buy what you want, what will work best for your needs.

Be sure people are available to answer your questions. Automated machines, or on-line forms can be a hassle and you never know when someone is going to get back to you. Also, having someone who can talk you through financing and warranties is essential. Remember, you don't have to sign anything you don't feel comfortable with. This applies up until you drive off the lot in your new RV.

How happy are the people that work there? Do they seem like they're only helping you because they want a commission, or do they really love what they do? RV dealers that take care of their staff will also take care of you.

Remember, you don't need to be intimidated walking into an RV dealership. You are in control of where you spend your money, so make sure the dealership is the right fit for you and you'll end up with the perfect RV. - 31515
