As I write this it's hard to believe that only four months ago our King of Pop, Michael Jackson has died. Now soon to be released is his, "This Is It" concert film that captures Michaels last weeks before his untimely passing. It shows Michael doing what he does best, singing and dancing and pouring his heart out to all the world.
Because of the ongoing investigation and controversy surrounding his death, many of us will have the same thoughts about going to see it and will probably ask the question, "Is this too soon after his funeral?"
Some have expressed their views that this concert film is coming too soon after his funeral, perhaps because of the ongoing investigation and controversy surrounding his death.
But watching the film you can see he was not. To complete this documentary was a huge undertaking for Director and Choreographer Kenny Ortega. Kenny had over 100 hours of rehearsal footage to choose from to give the audience a glimpse of what Michael goes through for the biggest and best concert tour ever. It was condensed into an almost two hour footage including some of Michael's biggest hits like "Billie Jean".
This "behind the scenes" documentary is interesting to watch and gives you a glimpse into Michael's world. You'll see just what Michael experiences in his daily rehearsals and just what a "perfectionist" he was. He was strong and moved effortlessly across the stage, singing and pouring his soul out, song after song.
He was upbeat, joking and laughing and showed such compassion and kindness toward his team members even though he guided them with a firm hand. He strived for perfection from himself to each member of the dance team, including the musicians, and special effects team alike. And after each practice he always gave a "God Bless" or "It's all for love" to everybody.
This guy had a tremendously big heart, something I did not connect with until I saw the documentary. Whether you are a fan or not, you will be taken by his honesty, his compassion and his kindness for those around him. And I guarantee you that you will dance in your seat when you view this.
The "This Is It" documentary film truly shows that Michael was happy and healthy in the weeks leading up to his death. One can't help but question why.
Whether you are a Michael Jackson fan or not, I can guarantee you that "This Is It" will make you think twice about him. The guy had a tremendously big heart for people and his music. You get that. And you feel it. And you won't help but dance in your seat when you watch it. It's very obvious after watching the King of Pop, that he was truly happy and healthy in the weeks before his untimely death. Although he will be missed dearly, we can now go back again and again through the "This Is It" film footage to revisit our dear friend who will forever live on in our hearts, as we were in his. - 31515
